Children's privacy
Effective 19 October 2026 · Version 2026-10-19 · AutoThink Group Ltd trading as AutoQuit
This notice is for parents and guardians, with short versions for children below. It follows the UK Age Appropriate Design Code (Children's Code), the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the EU GDPR. Where these rules differ, we follow the strictest one everywhere.
How a child joins
- Only a parent or legal guardian with an adult AutoQuit account can add a child (ages 5 to 17).
- The parent gives consent for each kind of information we store for the child. Without consent, the child can't join.
- Under 13: we verify the parent by emailing a one-time code to the parent's own address before the child is added.
- Under 8: we recommend the parent sets things up with the child and uses a join code, so the child doesn't need an email address.
- 16 and 17: the teen also reads and accepts their own notice when joining.
What we collect about a child
- A first name or nickname, age, and country (from the parent).
- An email address only if the parent gives one, used to sign in.
- The family plans and rewards the parent sets, requests the child sends (for example for 10 more minutes), and when a plan is marked finished.
That's all. A child's account has no AI coach, no voice, no adult habit tracking, no ads, no tracking, no public profile and no contact with strangers. These are blocked on our servers, not just hidden. We never sell children's data or use it for marketing. Location is not collected.
What parents can see
The plans and rewards they set, the child's requests, and the steps marked finished. Nothing else. The child's My family screen tells them exactly this. The child's Help page (breathing exercise, trusted-adult and helpline details) is private: parents aren't told when it's opened.
What parents can do
- Review the child's information in the app at any time.
- Withdraw consent: People → the child → Manage → Withdraw consent and delete data. The link ends and the child's family data is deleted straight away.
- Ask us for a copy, correction or deletion by emailing privacy@autoquit.com.
We keep a minimal record that consent was given or withdrawn, with no plan or request content, for up to 6 years, as the law expects.
Emails
Family emails (invitations and updates) are copied to our team inbox so we can help with problems and spot misuse. Codes and sign-in links are never copied.
For children (5 to 12)
AutoQuit helps you and your grown-up agree when screen time finishes.
We keep your name, your plans, the times you ask for more minutes, and when you say you're finished. Your grown-up can see these things.
We don't show you ads. We don't let strangers talk to you. If something feels wrong, tell a grown-up you trust.
For teens (13 to 17)
Your parent or guardian set up your family plan and agreed to it. They can see the plans they set, your requests and what you mark finished. Not your other apps, messages or browsing.
No ads, no tracking, no data sold. The Help page is private. You can ask your parent to end the link, or email privacy@autoquit.com if you have a privacy question. You can also contact the ICO (ico.org.uk).
